Flying today was C O L D !

It was really frosty at the field this morning – as you can see from the fine selection of head gear….

Daren, Russ Mick, Will and Damian – Good effort. I had my hat on too but that’s the good thing about hiding behind the camera

We had an unusual visitor today. A full sized Robinson R44 dropped in at the back of the pits to spectate!

Thought i’d pop out and try the spare csm 720 on the Aurora, To be honest i couldn’t tell much difference between the csm and the futaba gy611 that it replaced, Due to mechanical problems the flying session was cut short due to stripping the main gear of teeth (only 4 whole ones left) while in the chaos manoeuvre at approximately 50 foot, Heard the engine rev and saw the blades slow i managed to hit hold rotate the machine to the upright but nose down, let it gain speed then pulled back on the elevator punched in a load of negative, watched the blades spool up then hit the positive with about 5 feet to go.
Perfect landing!!!

Flying was nice today. The weather was much better that it has been for a while with light winds and even a bit of sunshine!

It was quite quiet on the Heli front with only me and Russ there for most of the morning. We where joined at about 10.30 by Will.

It’s easy to forget how good he is!

You could tell that it was a nice day as the fixed wingers started to arrive early  - Nice to see them and especially nice to see John’s big Extra put through it’s paces.

I managed to get some luchtime flying after nearly two weeks of snow and the after effects on the work field. Not a heli but I did get to use 2 battery packs on my Zagi today and 1 yesterday
